Chasing Mona Lisa by Tricia Goyer and Mike Yorkey

5 out 5 stars
August 1944. Paris is on the cusp of liberation. As the soldiers of the Third Reich flee the Allied advance, they ravage the country and steal countless pieces of irreplaceable art. In fact, Reichsmarschall Hermann Göring will stop at nothing to claim the most valuable one of all—the Mona Lisa—as a postwar bargaining chip.
But the woman with the mysterious smile has some very determined protectors. Can Swiss OSS agents Gabi Mueller and Eric Hofstadler rescue Leonardo da Vinci's masterpiece before it falls into German hands?

A fascinating read from start to finish. Chasing Mona Lisa is written with an amazing amount of sophistication.

Tricia Goyer and Mike Yorkey thrust readers into a Nazi occupied Europe, painting a picture of hardship, hope, and struggle for power during a time of great turmoil. From just the right amount of foreign words to just the right amount historical information, I felt like I was there, racing against time in this story that enhances the little known details of history and hands readers a breath-taking adventure.

Their expertise in World War II history shines brightly in this novel. Readers, such as myself, who haven't studied this time period enough to know the small details they've included, never feel left out. They do such a wonderful job of bringing readers up to speed on the current events surrounding the conflict in the story.

Aside from just the history, they give readers a variety of characters in this story. As far as political views go, these authors did a fascinating job of staying true to the time period by showing their character's political views without inserting modern-day thoughts into several character view points.

While I'm not one who usually reads WWII novels, I absolutely loved this one!

Chasing Mona Lisa is a novel I would definitely recommend to anyone who loves WWII history--or history in general.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell Publishers, via Litfuse Publicity, in exchange for an honest review.
